Pig Slaughter Class

Here is a little twist on a traditional homestead skillset: An Ancestrally informed, animistically principled pig slaughter class. A bit of Peasant Pleasantries. What better way to connect with the long lineage of land based ancestors than to lean into the Old Ways of tending to our meals?

We strive to take the classic, practical approach to raising and butchering hogs, which was a staple in almost any peasant kitchen, and infuse it with a compassionate, embodied, and magickal ethos.

We teach the art of killing, scalding, scraping, gutting, and skinning. Then we will transform our harvests, covering the making of bacon, prosciutto, wet and dry cured meat, sausage, smoking, grinding, rendering lard, butchering and freezer wrapping for long term storage.

We specialize in using every single part of the animal, and delight in honoring these animals as best as we know how.

Class includes:

  • Three days of hands-on instruction with Harmony Cronin

  • Onsite glamping accommodations

  • 3 Lunches and 2 Dinners, gourmet style pig based and lovingly cooked by Sarah Bellum

  • Tasty samples to take home as well

What to Bring:

  • A sharp knife - We use Victorinox 6 incho boning and 5 inch lamb skinner

  • Bedding and pad

  • Be prepared for colder weather i.e. extra layers, hats. We will provide wood for heating

Sliding Scale $700-$1300 Per Student
